Value Engineering

The purpose of OTB is to maximize the value of every trailer load of baked goods plus drive down the cost of packaging, distribution and display. It improves the entire logistics process by reducing the amount of manpower handling the product along the way.

To achieve those goals OTB is manufactured to withstand the rigors of transporting baked goods over hundreds of kilometers and subsequent cold storage. Structural integrity is inherently built-in.

Retailers can rest assured that their product will arrive in perfect condition and ready for merchandising.




Vibration Testing

North American Testing Services has verified OTB's stability subjecting it to an ISTA 1A vibration test:

  • Involved full pallet load of 573 lbs (48"L x 39.5"W x 53" H including pallet height)
  • Subjected to vibration testing for 3.16 hrs
  • 1 Hour of testing equivalent to 1,600 kms
  • Total simulation testing equivalent to 5,000 kms


Compression Testing

The same full pallet was subjected to a separate compression test to determine capability of withstanding compression so as not to collapse during transport or storage:

  • OTB Containers stored in cold storage room overnight at 4 degrees Celsius and 50% humidity
  • Then subjected to top-to-bottom compression test to determine effects
  • Fibre Box Association criteria were considered including storage time under load and relative humidity
  • Storage effect multiplied by humidity to arrive at environmental factor of 0.41
  • Environmental factor therefore calculated at 1/0.41 or 2.4

Result - OTB withstood deflection load of 1,995 lbs
